Sophomore Victoria Quinn verbally committed May 3 to play softball for West Texas A&M.

With the verbal commitment, Quinn agrees to play for college, but NCAA rules state that she may not sign a National Letter of Intent until her senior year.

“I’ve liked the college for a while and they have been watching me play since freshman year,” she said. “I went to the campus and I loved it and they offered me money for it. I wanted to play softball in college anyways so I liked the offer.”

Quinn doesn’t know why they singled her out.

“On my select team there are two other girls that got a scholarship [to West Texas A&M] but in high school not yet,” she said.

Quinn chose to commit to the college for several reasons.

“I really liked how it’s a really small town and they just won the national championship and it’s a good place to be around and all the coaches are really cool.”

Quinn is flattered by the attention.

“I was super happy and proud of myself I guess. It was kind of overwhelming.”
