All six choirs of the Chorale earned straight ones and sweepstakes trophies at UIL April 17.

Chorale hosted the contest. Each Choir, Freshmen Women, Freshmen Mixed, Jayvee Mixed, Varsity Men, Varsity Women and Varsity Mixed, had to sing a sight reading piece and perform on stage.

Junior Michael May said, “We did out of school rehearsal, after school, and some before school, and it really showed because we got six sweepstakes trophies.”

Choir Director, Carla Hardy said they started music earlier this year. They entered a pre UIL contest in March that had them close to concert ready.

Junior Ellie Hamzy said, “We put in so much work this year and the Hardy’s changed how we prepared for UIL.” When asked about last year’s contest, Hamzy said, “We felt really robbed last year after not getting sweepstakes because we really thought we deserved it.”

After winning sweepstakes, May said he felt that their victory was well deserved.

May said, “We by far are one of the best choirs in North Texas.”
