Happy Wellness Wednesday from room 303!
Today, we want to share a quick meditation practice that you can do anywhere: the Body Scan!
First, you want to make sure you are comfortable- whether that is standing, seated, or laying down is entirely up to you.
Next, take a few deep breaths, and allow your breathing to slow down. You can close your eyes or keep them open.
Then, you’ll start the Body Scan!
Start by focusing on your feet. Do you feel any sensations or pain? Acknowledge any thoughts or emotions that accompany that sensation, and make sure you keep breathing!
Slowly move this focus up your body, until you reach the top of your head. Note how you’re feeling, and any areas where you seem to be holding tension or stress (ex: this is the shoulders or back for a lot of people!).
One you get to the top of your head, slowly start to move around! Wiggle your fingers and toes, roll your shoulders or neck. Whatever feels right to you!
The Body Scan is something that can be done anywhere, even when you have limited time or space. It’s a quick and easy way to check in with yourself when you’re feeling stressed or overwhelmed and can be a great way to help calm yourself down.
According to Healthline, the Body Scan can also help improve sleep and reduce pain, stress and anxiety!
