New Music Review: Vampire Weekend’s New Single, Harmony Hall

Isaac Han, Reporter

One of the last bands that are appealing to this generation, Vampire Weekend, is back with the new single ‘Harmony Hall,’ to promote their upcoming new album, ‘Father of The Bride.’ Even though there was a 6-year gap between their new music release as a full band, their new tune is well described as “typical Vampire Weekend” music.

Just like Vampire Weekend’s music always does, the song’s uplifting melody produced from the members’ enthusiastic, yet cynical playing along with the vocalist Ezra Koenig’s psychedelic relaxing voice, give the listeners the mood of lazy warm summer day with some nice breeze.

The repetitive lyrics in the chorus, “I don’t want to live like this, but I don’t want to die,” will be recognized by the band’s fans as Vampire Weekend’s silly but practical and up to some point, philosophical lyrics.

If you are a long fan of the band and their distinctive indie sound, there is no way Vampire Weekend’s first new music in 6 years will disappoint you. Also, if you are a fan of indie band music, and never heard of Vampire Weekend, it’s going to be a great chance for you to hear to “Harmony Hall” and get to know the band and their nice music.
